On June 21, Barry Aslinger will present “Artistic Portrait Photography” at the PSC meeting at St. John UMC, beginning at 7:00 p.m. There are several elements involved in photographing a person in order to create a portrait rather than just a snapshot. Whether you’re working outdoors or in a studio there are many variables that enter into creating images that have true artistic qualities. This program will introduce you to lighting, posing, and composition, which all play a key role in the creation of an artistic portrait. A basic studio lighting setup will be demonstrated for indoor photography along with taking studio lighting outside for portraits. Composing an image with strategic subject placement, finding elements to frame the subject, and posing the body to show form and shape within the image will be the final topic.
