At the January PSC meeting, Tyson Smith, will share his knowledge of “Focus Stacking” with attendees. Focus stacking is the process of collecting multiple images at different focus points and combining them into a single image with a greater depth of field. Tyson will take a look at how to expose for and capture the images. Then he will show how to put them together using software to create the photographer’s vision. This technique is particularly useful in landscape and close-up photography.

After retiring from a career in healthcare in 2013, Tyson moved to Townsend, Tennessee to pursue his interests in photography and the natural history of the Appalachian Mountains. He is lucky to now live where his heart has always been, in East Tennessee with his supportive and tolerant wife. He concentrates on artistic nature photography and pet photography and also assists his wife with wedding and portrait photography. Three years ago he started the free, digital magazine Smoky Mountain Journal of Photography. To subscribe go to www.smjop.com.
